McColl Partners finished a record year in 2010, closing 26 transactions, 16 of which were completed during the final four months of the year. We continue to be the premier middle-market investment bank for private business owners, with over two-thirds of our closed deals in 2010 representing private and family-owned businesses. Included in these private businesses are industry leaders such as Butterball, Cardell Cabinetry, and Dymatize. As a result of our ongoing growth, we continue to add experienced M&A professionals to our team.
In 2010, the firm again demonstrated a unique ability to access both strategic and financial acquirors. Our clients benefit from McColl Partners’ strong global reach, which can be evidenced by superior outcomes such as the sale of Abilene, Texas-based Fehr Foods to Compañía de Galletas Noel S.A.S., a South American producer and distributor of food products. McColl Partners also recently received The M&A Atlas Awards’ Financials Deal of the Year Award for advising Puerto Rico-based Oriental Financial Group, Inc. in its acquisition of Eurobank from FDIC receivership.
Our firm’s in-depth coverage of private equity firms through our Financial Sponsors Group continues to generate premium results for our clients, as two-thirds of our closed transactions in 2010 involved equity investments by firms such as TA Associates, Kelso & Co, The Blackstone Group, RLJ Equity, HIG Capital, and Gryphon Investors. Sponsor coverage remains a highly important area for McColl Partners, and our firm continues to invest significant resources to this activity.
2011 has started with incredible momentum for McColl Partners, closing seven transactions year-to-date, including clients such as Hooters of America, Inc., Bio-Engineered Supplements & Nutrition, Inc., Capital Bank, ScriptSave, and The Scooter Store, Ltd. As we enter our tenth year, the strengths of the relationships we have built with clients through our industry groups and financial sponsor coverage effort have positioned McColl Partners to build on its leadership position in the middle market.
